  15.           1. DESCRIPTION

  18.                TriPlot  is  an  MS-DOS  shareware  program  that  generates
  19.           HP-GL/2 instructions  for  plotting  three-component  data  on  a
  20.           ternary diagram.  HP-GL/2 is  the new standardized version of the
  21.           Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language.  It is available, for example,
  22.           with  HP's  series  of  LaserJet  III  printers  and  DraftMaster
  23.           plotters.

  25.                The user  can redirect  the HP-GL/2 commands  to a  file for
  26.           printing/plotting  at  a  later  time  or for  importing  into  a
  27.           print-utility   or  drawing  program.    A   data  point  can  be
  28.           represented by one  of eight possible symbols drawn,  in the case
  29.           of a plotter,  by one of eight  possible pens.  In  addition, the
  30.           user has the option  of toggling the legend  on and off,  drawing
  31.           the whole diagram or a corner of it only, displaying one  of five
  32.           pre-defined   grid   systems   or    none,   and   overlaying   a
  33.           program-supplied  zonation scheme.   Line segments  and tie-lines
  34.           can also be plotted.

  102.           4. LICENSE AND REGISTRATION

  105.                The TriPlot package  is distributed as a  shareware product.
  106.           Accordingly, you  are  entitled to  make and  distribute as  many
  107.           copies as you wish with the following provisos:

  109.                     1) none of the files have been altered,
  110.                     2) all the files are included,
  111.                     3) only a nominal fee is charged for such distribution.
  112.  
  113.                Furthermore, you may evaluate this product for 30 days, free
  114.           of  charge.    If  you  use  TriPlot  after  this  trial  period,
  115.           registration  is requested  as detailed  in  the ORDER.DOC  file.
  116.           Registration  permits  you  to  use  TriPlot  on  any  number  of
  117.           computers or a  group of people to  use it on a  single computer.
  118.           The   next  version  of   the  program,  without   the  on-screen
  119.           registration notice, along with its printed documentation will be
  120.           sent  to you.   Moreover, you will be  entitled to free technical
  121.           support and reduced prices for future upgrades.

  143.           5. INSTALLATION
  144.           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  146.                To install TriPlot, copy the distribution files to a working
  147.           diskette or to a subdirectory of your hard drive.  Their purposes
  148.           are as follows:
  149.  
  150.                o README.1ST is the current file.
  151.                o README.W51 is the WordPerfect 5.1 source file for the
  152.                  README.1ST file.
  153.                o ORDER.DOC contains the order/registration form.  Please
  154.                  enclose it with your remittance.
  155.                o ORDER.W51 is the WordPerfect 5.1 source file for the
  156.                  ORDER.DOC file.
  157.                o REPORT.DOC contains a form for reporting any bugs. 
  158.                  Moreover, it can be used to forward any comments or
  159.                  suggestions.
  160.                o REPORT.W51 is the WordPerfect 5.1 source file for the
  161.                  REPORT.DOC file.
  162.                o TRIPLOT.EXE is the executable file.  It was created with
  163.                  Microsoft(R)'s FORTRAN Version 5.0 compiler and its
  164.                  emulator library: the program will use a numeric co-
  165.                  processor if one is present.
  166.                o TRIPLOT.ZON contains the definitions of the line segments
  167.                  that make up the two zonation schemes currently supported
  168.                  by TriPlot.  If you use other well-established zonation
  169.                  schemes, send us the details and we'll incorporate them
  170.                  into TriPlot.  Note in passing that TriPlot will create
  171.                  this file whenever it cannot locate it.
  172.                o TRIPLOT.DOC is the documentation file explaining how to
  173.                  set up your data file and detailing the various plotting
  174.                  options.
  175.                o TRIPLOT.W51 is the WordPerfect 5.1 source file for the
  176.                  TRIPLOT.DOC file.
  177.                o TEMPLATE.DAT is a template for helping the user structure
  178.                  the data file as required by TriPlot.
  179.                o TEST.DAT is one of the many test files that were used in
  180.                  TriPlot's development.  It's provided as an example data
  181.                  file.

  183.                The .DOC  files, along with the current file README.1ST, are
  184.           DOS text files  formatted for an impact  printer with continuous-
  185.           form paper.  The  .DAT files are pure DOS  ASCII files.  You  can
  186.           print  them by using  the DOS  COPY command  as in  the following

  211.           In  addition,  you  can  view  these  files  on  your  screen  by
  212.           redirecting their contents through the DOS MORE command, e.g.,

  216.           The .W51 files  have been included in order  to allow WordPerfect
  217.           5.1 users to reformat the documentation for their printers.

  220.           6. STARTING TRIPLOT

  223.                TriPlot  is launched  from  the  DOS prompt  in  one of  two
  224.           possible ways:

  232.           Please  refer  to  the  documentation  file  TRIPLOT.DOC  for  an

  236.           7. BUGS, SUGGESTIONS, AND COMMENTS

  239.                Further  enhancements  are   dependent  on  your   financial
  240.           support, suggestions, and even your  gripes.  If your usage calls
  241.           for new options or zonation schemes that are of general interest,
  242.           supply  us with  as  many  details as  possible.   Remember  that
  243.           registered  users are entitled to free  technical support for any
  244.           problems  they may encounter  with TriPlot.   The file REPORT.DOC
  245.           provides a form for reporting any bugs, comments, or suggestions.
